Why a small profile check is worth ten minutes
Most people find a local business on their phone, in a hurry. They look at your hours, your photos and your reviews. Then they call, message or walk in, or move on.
A profile that is wrong in one small place loses that person. A closed sign on a day you were open, or a phone number that does not answer, is enough.
What the twelve checks cover
- Name, address and phone. Written the same on Google, Facebook and your website. We call this the One Address Rule.
- Opening hours. Your normal week, plus the Malta public holidays. Set those a week ahead, not on the morning.
- Messaging. A WhatsApp link that reaches a mobile, tested by someone who is not you.
- Proof. Services in plain words, photos of the real place, and a reply to every review.
The holiday hours most owners forget
Malta has several public holidays, and shops close on some and open on others. Google does not know which you chose. If your profile says open and the shutter is down, the customer remembers that.
Put the next holiday in your phone calendar a week before, with the words “update Google hours”. It takes two minutes and prevents a bad review.
When a checklist is not the problem

How often should I check my Google Business Profile?
Once a month is enough for most small businesses. Also check it a week before each Malta public holiday, because wrong holiday hours are the mistake customers notice first.
Do I need a shop to have a Google Business Profile in Malta?
No. If you work at the customer's place, like a plumber or a mobile hairdresser, you can set the profile up as a service area business and hide the street address.
Why does my WhatsApp button not work?
The usual cause is a landline. Numbers starting with 21 or 27 are landlines in Malta. Use the mobile you answer WhatsApp on, and write the link as https://wa.me/356 plus eight digits.
Are my ticks saved anywhere online?
No. They are stored in your browser on this device only. We never see them. If you clear your browser data or switch phones, the list starts again.
Does a Google Business Profile cost anything?
No. The profile is free, and so is the WhatsApp Business app. Nothing on this checklist needs a paid tool.
